The “experts” are at it again!

Is anybody else out there sick to death of all the rich and famous people of the world telling me how I feel and what I need?  Here’s the latest:

High-Profile Women Launch 45+ Website

Five prominent women are launching a new site for women ‘of a certain age’ today. According to the New York Times story, Wowowow’s founders, are longtime friends: Joni Evans, formerly president of Simon & Schuster; Liz Smith, gossip columnist; Mary Wells, the advertising executive behind the “I Love New York” campaign; Peggy Noonan, former presidential speechwriter; and Lesley Stahl, television news reporter.”

If Leslie Stahl can tell me anything about my own midlife reality, that I don’t already know, I’ll eat my hat!!!  And I don’t even wear a hat!!!

Yes, people that are millionaires and live in New York City know lots about my day to day needs, wants and dreams.  When they don’t, they bring in an “expert” who also lives in NYC and is a millionaire.  As we learned from watching Oprah last week, billionaires are the new experts on our midlife “process.”  They know so much, they know that it isn’t even really a “crisis.”

I would like to challenge any of these “experts” to come live the life the rest of us live, lose a home to foreclosure, go through menopause with no health insurance and therefore no help, get divorced and lose everything, face retirement with no savings…and then tell me they have all the answers.

I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore!  This is how the rich and famous become more rich and famous, and the rest of us go down the tubes.

Your last paragraph sums it up; that is exactly how they make their millions. Any time someone is out there telling you their “secrets” to success you have to keep in mind that if they were valuable they would keep them secret.
